Jennies remain unbeaten in MIAA play
Hazel Cox scored a goal in each of the two matches
The Central Missouri Jennies soccer team stayed unbeaten in conference play going 1-0-1 over the weekend. The Jennies (8-1-2, 6-0-1 MIAA) played to a 1-1 tie at Truman State on Friday, and then came through with a 2-1 double overtime win over Northwest Missouri State on Saturday in Maryville.
Hazel Cox scored her second goal of the season in the 24th minute off an assist from Angela Dobbie to put the Jennies up 1-0. UCM held the lead until the 88th minute when Truman scored the equalizer. Liz Casey made seven saves in net for the Jennies. The Truman goal was the first goal that Casey had given up all season.
Cox scored her second goal in as many days on Saturday to put the Jennies up 1-0 at Northwest. The Bearcats tied the game in the 77th minute to force overtime. In the second overtime Lindsay Hoerl found the back of the net in the 107th minute to give the Jennies the win, Kylee Schuhler was credited with the assist. Casey was in net again for the Jennies and stopped five shots on the way to her sixth win of the season. The Jennies were out-shot 15-12 for the game, but held a 4-0 advantage in the second overtime.
