Jennies sweep pair of MIAA road matches,
now 5-0 in conference play
Liz Casey was in goal for both shutouts
The eighth-ranked Jennies soccer team completed a weekend sweep in conference action with a 1-0 win over Southwest Baptist on Saturday afternoon in Bolivar. UCM beat Missouri Southern on Friday afternoon in Joplin by the same 1-0 margin. The Jennies (7-1-1, 5-0 MIAA) are off to the best conference start in school history.
In Friday’s game, Lindsay Hoerl broke a scoreless tie when she found the back of the net in the 80th minute for the 1-0 final. Liz Casey made seven saves in goal en route to her third shutout of the season. The Jennies were out-shot 8-3 in the first half, but responded to out-shoot Missouri Southern 8-3 in the second half.
In Saturday’s game Angela Dobbie notched her first goal of the season in the 12th minute. The lone goal stood up as Casey posted her second consecutive shutout and fourth of the year.
