Jennies split pair,
drop to second place in MIAA
Carrie Twellman, who netted the game-tying goal with 19 seconds to play against Emporia State
The Central Missouri Jennies soccer team split a pair of MIAA games over the weekend and slipped out of first place for the first time all season. The Jennies (10-4-2, 8-3-1) beat Emporia State 2-1 in double overtime Friday night before falling 1-0 to Washburn on Saturday. The Jennies now trail conference leader Truman by three points with two games to play.
Friday night the Jennies got a goal from Carrie Twellman with 19 seconds to play to force overtime in Emporia. Hazel Cox knocked in the game-winner in the 104th minute of the second overtime period. Liz Casey recorded her eighth win of the season in net for the Jens. The Jennies out-shot Emporia State 34-5 for the game, including 4-1 in the overtime periods.
UCM dropped a tough 1-0 decision to Washburn on Saturday night. The Lady Blues limited the Jennies to just four shots and got their lone goal in the 82nd minute for the win.
