Celebration is on after the Jennies victory over Truman State
The Central Missouri Jennies grabbed a share of the first MIAA soccer title in school history with a 1-0 overtime win over Truman State on senior night Saturday at the South Recreation Complex.
Hazel Cox scored the game-winner – her third game-winner of the season – in the 95th minute to give the Jennies the 1-0 win. She was assisted on the goal by Melanie Hall. Senior Liz Casey earned her 10th win and sixth shutout of the season while making three saves in net.
UCM and Truman tied atop the MIAA standings, but by virtue of their 1-0-1 record against the Bulldogs this season the Jennies will receive the No. 1 seed and the right to host next weekend’s inaugural MIAA tournament. The Jennies will play Southwest Baptist in the second game next Saturday at the South Recreation Complex.
