Jennies rally to top Mo Western in OT

Jennies open MIAA play with overtime win at Missouri Western

The 15th ranked University of Central Missouri Jennies soccer squad had to come from behind to win their MIAA opener at Missouri Western State University on Friday night. Meigan Soo put the Griffons ahead in the 29th minute when she rolled one in past Jennies’ keeper Shannon Ponche. Central Missouri tied the match at 1-1 when Carrie Twellman hammered home a rebound with just over a minute left to play in the first half.

The Jennies pressured the Missouri Western keeper all night, out-shooting the Griffons 26-6, including 12 shots on goal. But, the Jennies were unable to find the back of the net in the second half.

             
The teams went to a first overtime where Melanie Hall took a pass from Hazel Cox and drilled it into the back of the net to give the Jennies the win in the 99th minute. Cox and Hall led the Jennies with nine and four shots, respectively, while Ponche added three saves.
