Jennies Soccer splits pair on opening weekend
Melanie Hall scored goals in both matches for the Jennies
The Central Missouri Jennies soccer team split a pair of games this past weekend at the Midwestern State University Classic in Wichita Falls, Texas.
The Jennies dropped the opening game to the host school Midwestern State 3-1 on Friday night. Melanie Hall scored the Jennies lone goal, unassisted in the 29th minute. Shannon Ponche had five saves in goal for the Jennies and Hazel Cox tallied five shots. UCM out-shot MSU 14-12 in the match despite the loss.
The Jennies rebounded with a 2-0 win over Texas Women’s University on Sunday. Kayla Jupp and Melanie Hall netted second-half goals for UCM, while Elizabeth Casey had four saves and pitched the shutout – the seventh of her career. For the weekend, the Jennies outshot their opponents 34-20 (20-8 against TWU).
