Jennies Fall at Home to SBU
in Double Overtime
Brittany Sharp scored her first goal of the season in the match against SBU
The Central Missouri Jennies soccer team dropped their first MIAA game of the season, a tough 3-2 setback in double overtime to Southwest Baptist on Friday night at the South Recreation Complex.
The Jennies (9-2-2, 7-1-1 MIAA) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead when Brittany Sharp scored in the third minute. SBU answered quickly with a goal in the eighth minute. The Lady Bearcats took a 2-1 lead late when they beat goalkeeper Liz Casey in the 86th minute. The Jens responded when Hazel Cox drilled a shot into the net less than a minute later to force overtime.
SBU scored the game-winner in the 103rd minute to send the Jens to their first conference loss and end their 11-match unbeaten streak.
The physical battle saw 34 fouls and six yellow cards handed out. Both teams finished with 11 shots, the Jennies had nine shots on goal. Casey made five saves for UCM.
