Jennies announce 2009 recruiting class

The MIAA Champion Jennies soccer squad has added seven student-athletes to compete for and attend the University of Central Missouri this fall.

“This is a very exciting day for our program as we have added seven players that will complement our returning players extremely well.” Head Coach Lewis Theobald said, “From top to bottom the 2009 class is full of ability, athleticism and competitiveness. Each of these players has also been impact players as members of teams that have won club and/or high school state championships. We are proud to welcome them to our family, and expect them to have a major impact starting this fall.”

Brittany Colvin - Midfielder

Fort Zumwalt West –  Coach Jack Baldwin
St. Louis Cougars – Coach Daryl Doran

Helped Fort Zumwalt West to a state runner-up finish as a freshman and a state title as a sophomore… a two-time all-conference selection, she also helped her squad to three consecutive district titles… a solid student as well, she earned academic all-conference two times… born March 5, 1991… daughter of Nanci Colvin.

Coach Theobald on Colvin:

“Brittany is a multi-dimensional player and can excel anywhere on the field.  She has a fantastic work rate coupled with a strong sense for the game. We are excited about how much ground she covers during the game and always wants to be involved.”

A second-team all-state selection, Hanson has also garnered first-team All-Sunflower League honors the last two seasons… The 2006 Freshman of the Year for state champion Olathe South, she was also a first-team All-Olathe and All-Sun Country pick in 2008… helped her club team, the KC Metro Dynamos, to four consecutive state titles from 2004-07, and the Region II championship game in 2006… also competed in volleyball, serving as team captain in 2008… born July 29, 1990… daughter of Jon and Missy Hanson.

Coach Theobald on Hanson:

“Kelsie is a fantastic athlete that can play any position on the field and excel. She is a technical player that we can use as a central playmaker, or we can play her wide which would allow her the space to use her athleticism and 1-on-1 abilities.”

Member of the highly successful KCFC Impact club team, which has been ranked in the top 10 of the Region II and national rankings… one of three players in this class of signees on that team… they have won numerous state and national tournament championships… led her high school team in goals and assists in its inaugural season of soccer… born October 3, 1990… daughter of Bruce and Erin Miller.

Coach Theobald on Miller:

“Eileen is an extremely versatile player that could play any number of roles for us this fall.  She is athletic enough to be an effective wide player, but is equally effective centrally as a playmaker because of her technical and tactical abilities.”

A four-year letterman, she also earned honorable mention all-state honors… she helped Incarnate Word Academy to the 2008 state title and the 2007 state runner-up, lettering all four years of her career… she also helped them to three district titles… born October 24, 1990… daughter of John and Suzanne Ruhmann.

“Katie has tremendous pace and a mentality for the game. She has the ability to play in both the midfield or up top as a striker.  We will be counting on her to use her speed to cause problems for opposing teams.”

Olathe Northwest High School – Coach Chris Graham
KCFC Impact- Coach Huw Williams

Another member of the highly successful KCFC Impact club team which has been ranked in the top 10 of the Region II and national rankings… one of three players in this class of signees on that team… they have won numerous state and national tournament championships… she also lettered four years at Olathe Northwest, earning second-team all-state, first-team All-Sunflower League, all-city, All-NEKSCA Team, and All-Johnson County… She has 20 career goals, 37 career assists, and tallied 77 career points… she also lettered in gymnastics, volleyball, and cheerleading… born August 6, 1990… daughter of Brad and Janice Shain.

Coach Theobald on Shain:

“Kayla is a dynamic attacking player that can be a goal scorer or playmaker for us in the fall.  She has the ability to be an impact player in many ways for our program, and is the type of player that will make our style of play become more fluent.”

Another member of the highly successful KCFC Impact club team which has been ranked in the top 10 of the Region II and national rankings… one of three players in this class of signees on that team… they have won numerous state and national tournament championships… also won the state and Sunflower League titles at Olathe East in 2008, while taking the league championship there in 2007 as well… earned second-team all-state, first-team All-Sunflower League, and all-city honors… also grabbed all-metro and All-Johnson County accolades… born July 3, 1991… daughter of Kent and Michele Stones.

“Jenna is a fantastic defender that can play either centrally or wide in our backline. She has a great physical presence and has the right competitive mentality that we want in our program.  Not only does Jenna defend well, but she is also very good in possession.

Olathe North High School – Coach David Glassman
KC Metro Dynamos – Coach Derek Shoare

Led Olathe North in scoring all four years, earning All-Olathe and All-Johnson County honors three times… she also earned second-team all-state accolades two times, starting all four years… also lettered in basketball two seasons... born September 17, 1990… daughter of Rick and Terri Thompson.

Coach Theobald on Thompson:

“Sarah is a striker with strong ability in the air, and has a great physical presence.  Sarah is a goal scorer and puts herself in the right place at the right time.  We are counting on her to help us score goals next fall, and will provide a different dimension to the strikers that we currently have in our program.”
