Jennies top 16th ranked Lions for first win
Jennies soccer faced a familiar foe in No. 16 Texas A&M-Commerce on Sunday, this time the result ended in UCM’s favor. The Jennies scored in the first half of the game, as that lone goal proved to be all the Jens needed for their first victory of the season. The Lions and Jennies battled last season in the NCAA Tournament where TAMCU came out on top with the 2-0 victory.
Sharaya Sidebottom took a crossing pass from Cara Hennahane in the 37th minute of the first half, and fired a shot to the lower left of the net for the score. It was Sidebottom’s first goal and Hennahane’s first assist of the season.
Net minder Lauren Bamvakais made one save in goal while recording her 13th shutout of her career. For the game, the Lions outshot UCM 6-4 as TAMCU also had two corner kicks to the Jens one.
