Jennies Soccer signs nine for 2006
The Central Missouri State University soccer team has signed nine student-athletes for the 2006 season. The Jennies finished second in the MIAA and had the seventh biggest turnaround in the nation with an improvement of seven wins from the year before. Head coach Geoff VanDeusen hopes this class will help bring CMSU a conference title next season.
"I am really excited about this year's class; I know it will add tremendous talent and depth in combination with the players that are currently here."
The returning ability on the squad helped CMSU score 19 more goals and allow 10 fewer netters from the previous season as well as post six shutouts. The Jennies lost four seniors, only two of which started in 2005. VanDeusen feels that if they fill the right holes, they will be armed for a run to the NCAA Tournament.
"We really focused on bringing players in that will challenge for starting positions right away. The players that are included in this class are technically and tactically solid and fit into our style of play."
