Jennies split weekend in Oklahoma

Central Missouri State soccer let in five goals for the second straight game on Friday against Central Oklahoma in a shutout loss but rebounded with a 2-0 win on Sunday over Southwest Oklahoma State.

The Bronchos took a 2-0 lead into the break and out-shot the Jennies 8-4 in the first half. UCO scored its goals in the 29th and 36th minutes, both off failed clearances by the CMSU defense.

The second period saw Central Oklahoma score in the 54th and 60th minutes, both from UCO midfielder Joy Hagemann. The Bronchos capped the scoring in the 72nd minute for the 5-0 final score. Central Missouri goalkeeper Andrea Dixon had six saves out of 11 shots on goal. The game was called with 4:48 on the clock due to lightning in the area.

Against Southwest Oklahoma, the Jennies didn’t wait long to score as Hazel Cox stole the ball from a defender and finished a breakaway just 1:03 into the match. CMSU out-shot the Bulldogs 21-8 on the day and took the 1-0 lead into halftime.

The Jens put SWOSU away in the 56th minute when Randi Fernsler got her first ever collegiate goal on a one-touch finish off a slot-cross from Landri Schmitt. Dixon made six saves on the day and earned her third shutout of the season.
