Jennies start early and roll past Griffons

The first two shots of the night were goals and the CMSU Jennies coasted to a 4-0 MIAA win over Missouri Western on Friday night at the South Recreation Complex. Freshman Carrie Twellman (St. Louis, Mo.) got the Jens started off as she beat a defender up the middle and smoked a shot into the side netting from 25 yards out only three minutes into the match. The second goal came just 1:47 later as Hazel Cox (Olathe, Kan.) finished a ball off a cross from Landri Schmitt (Olathe, Kan.). The Jennies almost went into the half with a 2-0 lead but Mallory Milburn (Olathe, Kan.) hurried a free kick and scored from about 35 yards out with only two seconds on the clock.

The second period was much of the same as CMSU out-shot the Griffons 12-2. They capped off the scoring in the 84th minute when Sara Rusnak (Colorado Springs, Colo.) hit a corner kick into the box that Jamie Lawrence (Olathe, Kan.) flicked backward with her head to Jodie Caplinger (Columbia, Mo.) for a one-touch finish. Goalkeeper Andrea Dixon (Sacramento, Calif.) earned her second shutout over the Griffons and fifth of the season.
