Jennies fall to #15 Washburn, 1-0

                The Jennies soccer team came out on the wrong end against #15 Washburn, 1-0 on Wednesday evening in Warrensburg.
            The first half was evenly played with each side having an opportunity to score. The Jens (9-4-2, 4-4-2 MIAA) best chance came in the 10th minute when Landri Schmitt beat her defender and got past the goalkeeper but her shot was deflected and cleared off the line. WU’s (14-1-2, 9-1-1 MIAA) best chance came in the 28th minute but Jessica Mainz shot was blocked. The Lady Blues held an 8-2 advantage in corner kicks in the opening frame, while UCM out shot them 5-3 and 4-2 on goal.
            Central Missouri had three great scoring opportunities early in the second half including two by Angela Dobbie one of which was saved and the other blocked. Washburn would score the only goal in the 58th minute off a throw in Lauren Schwindt carried the ball in from the sideline and got a free look and shot it in from the top of the box. The Jennies were able to get only two more shots off the rest of the evening.
            For the game UCM out shot WU 11-6, and 5-4 on goal, while the Lady Blues had an 11-4 edge in corner kicks.
