Jennies and Lions battle to scoreless draw

                The Jennies and Missouri Southern battled to a scoreless draw on Friday night in Joplin, it was the second time this season that the teams have tied with each other.
            In the opening half Central Missouri (9-3-2, 4-3-2 MIAA) dominated the Lions (7-3-4, 6-1-3)  playing primarily in their end of the field and was rewarded with a 6-3 advantage in shots, but each keeper made two saves to keep the contest scoreless.
            In the second frame MSSU came out firing and controlled the rest of regulation by .out shooting UCM by a 12-3 count. Liz Casey came up big in the second stanza, as she recorded seven of her season high 11 saves. Kaney Tyler was equally impressive in goal for Missouri Southern as she made five saves including a couple of great saves that prevented sure goals.
            The Jennies had the best opportunity of the night to come away with the victory, but Hazel Cox’s shot with a little over six minutes remaining in the second overtime went just wide.
