Jennies defeat Truman, 1-0

For the second time this season the Central Missouri Jennies soccer team avenged an earlier loss, this time defeating Truman State, 1-0 in Kirksville on Wednesday afternoon.
The Jennies (11-4-2, 6-4-2) came out attacking early and were rewarded in the 16th minute when Carrie Twellman sent a pass to the far post and Lindsay Hoerl was there to put it home, for her first goal of the season, giving the Jens a 1-0 lead. The Bulldogs (10-5-3, 5-4-3 MIAA) came back on the offensive trying to tie the score, but the Jens played solid defense and held them to one shot the rest of the period. UCM was out shot in the first half by TSU 4-3 with each side putting a shot on goal.
In the second half Central Missouri pressured early trying to extend the lead getting off four shots in the first 10 minutes, but they were unable to find the back of the net. Truman started starting up the pressure over the final 30 minutes, but Liz Casey was equal to the task making four saves in the final stanza recording her fifth shutout of the year.
TSU held an 11-8 advantage in shots over the Jennies for the contest and put five on goal compared to only two for the Jens. Casey made five saves in the match.
