Jennies split six games at UCO Classic
The Central Missouri Jennies went 3-3 over the weekend at the UCO Softball Classic in Mustang, Okla. UCM knocked off the host school Central Oklahoma 3-1 in the first game of the tournament. The Jennies were defeated by Southern Nazarene 3-1 before beating East Central (Okla.) 9-4 to finish the day on Saturday.
UCM (4-7) fell in Sunday’s first game, 3-2 in 11 innings to St. Gregory’s then rebounded for a 5-4 win over East Central. The Jennies dropped the final game of the tournament 2-1 to Central Oklahoma.
Megan Leonard picked up the win in game one over Central Oklahoma. She gave up five hits and one unearned run in the complete game win. She also added two hits at the plate.
The Jennies outhit Southern Nazarene 8-7 in game two, but fell 3-1. Tarese Ely-Myers and Marisha Branson had two hits apiece for UCM.
Kristal Holland picked up the complete game win over East Central, she also added two hits. Ely-Myers had three hits and two RBI to lead UCM. Katie Bauer knocked in two runs, while Tracey Anderson and Branson added two hits each.
The Jennies were limited to three hits in the 3-2, 11 inning loss to St. Gregory’s. Leonard went the distance for UCM allowing three unearned runs while recording 16 strikeouts. Anderson had two of the three hits for the Jennies.
UCM pounded out 10 hits in the 5-4 win over East Central. Ely-Myers was two-for-four with a triple and three RBI to lead the Jennies. Bauer and Anderson added two hits each. Holland picked up the win in relief.
Ely-Myers had two of UCM’s six hits in the 2-1 loss to Central Oklahoma. Holland took the loss giving up four hits and two unearned runs in six innings of work.
