Jennies have two earn All-Region Accolades

Tarese Ely-Myers and Megan Leonard receive post-season honors
Two members of the University of Central Missouri softball team were recently named to numerous all-region and all-district teams.
Junior pitcher Megan Leonard and sophomore outfielder Tarese Ely-Myers were both named to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-North Central Region Second Team and the Daktronics Division II SID’s All-North Central Region Second Team. This is the first all-region selection for both Ely-Myers and Leonard.
In addition, Ely-Myers was selected to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team and the CoSIDA Academic All-District Second Team for her work in the classroom. The sophomore from Richland, Mo. is majoring in Business Management.
Leonard, a junior from Purdy, Mo., finished the season 20-9 with a 1.07 ERA and a school-record 303 strikeouts in 222.1 innings pitched. Ely-Myers led an offensive attack that broke the school-record for home runs in a season with 46. She finished her sophomore campaign with a .351 average, 13 home runs, the second most in school history, and 48 RBI.
As a team, UCM finished the season 36-22 overall and 12-6 in the MIAA. The Jennies finished second in the MIAA in both the regular season and the conference tournament and made their second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament.
