Coach Anderson on Kelly Martin: “Kelly along with all of the other pitchers will see multiple roles throughout the season. Starter, relief and/or closer. She works extremely hard and she’s throwing with confidence which I like to see. If her consistency at the plate improves, she might hit for herself.”
As a Sophomore: Appeared in 20 games with two starts ... tied her own school record with five saves.
As a Freshman: Appeared in 21 games with four starts ... set a single season school record for saves with five ... hit two against Cameron on March 18 and hit a game winning three run homer against St. Cloud State on March 26 ... was named to the Dean’s List her spring and fall semesters.
In High School: Martin played for coach Mark Baldersten. She was named second-team All-Sunflower League, second-team all-state and second team all-metro in 2005. She was also an NFCA scholar-athlete in 2004 and 2005. In 2005 her team finished second in Class 6-A in Kansas. Martin played in the Mo.-Kan. All-Star Game. She also lettered in varsity drill team.
Personal: Martin’s parents are Ken and Mary Carol Martin. She is a biology major with a 3.61 grade-point average... she was born on May 9, 1987.
