Coach Anderson on Melissa Palmer: “As a centerfielder we need her to step up, be vocal and lead the outfield. She has been a consistent player and hitter, but I’m expecting an even better performance this year. She needs to expect more out of herself and then she could have her best season as a senior.”
As a Junior: Started all 53 games ... hit .261 with 15 RBI ... had 58 putouts and .953 fielding percentage ... named to the Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.
As a Sophomore: hit .282 in 47 games splitting time between second base and left field ... tied for the team lead in sacrifice hits with 12 ... was 10-for-11 in stolen bases ... earned MIAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for her work in the classroom.
As a Freshman: Started 23 games and appeared in 36, mostly at second base... had seven hits and scored eight runs.
In High School: A talented three-sport athlete out of Benton High School ... was a two-time first-team all-conference selection and was selected to the all-district team once for coach Greg Reynolds ... also was a three year letterman in soccer where she earned a couple first-team all-district selections and an all-conference pick ... lettered two years in basketball.
Personal: Exercise Science major with a 3.41 grade-point average … born January 14, 1986 … daughter of Bill and Toni Palmer.
