Coach Anderson on Whitney Sandberg: “We saw a better performance from her this fall in regards to hitting. This year we need her to focus on strictly hitting for average, hitting the ball hard and being a hard out. I would really like to see be consistent both offensively and defensively.”
As a Junior: Appeared in 47 games, starting 44 ... hit .193 with five home runs and 16 RBI ... was named to the Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for her work in the classroom.
As a Sophomore: Played in 32 games with five starts ... hit .167 with nine runs scored and was 6-of-7 in stolen bases ... was named to the MIAA Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.
As a Freshman: Played in 22 games and hit .222 with 12 runs scored... stole 2-of-2 bases as well.
In High School: Lettered in softball as well as cross counrty at St. Thomas Aquinas High School ... earned first-team All-EKL honors and second team All-Sun Counry accolades for head coach Chris Orel.
Personal: Exercise Science major with a 3.12 grade-point average … born January 31, 1986 … daughter of David and Mary Jo Sandberg. Her mother, Mary Jo, is a member of the UCM Athletic Hall of Fame with the 1980 women’s basketball squad.
