2010 Indoor Mule Relays

The Mules picked up five first-place finishes Saturday during the Men's competition at the 2010 Mule Indoor Relays at the UCM Multipurpose Building.

Drew Frizzell led the way with a top finish in both the Weight Throw and Shot Put. Frizzell's mark of 68-03.75 in the Weight Throw was the second best performance in Division II so far this season, and earned him an automatic qualifying mark for the D-II Championships. He picked up a provisional mark in the Shot.

Brent Vogel won the 600 yard run, and ran the anchor on the Mules 4 x 400 Yard Relay team that finished first. Chris Millentree won the High Jump and earned a provisional qualifying mark in the process. "Meet Results"

The Jennies had four first-place finishes Friday during competition in the Women's 2010 Mule Indoor Relays at the UCM Multipurpose Building.

Lindsay Lettow led the way with a pair of wins (Long Jump & 60 Meter Hurdles) and had NCAA-II provisional qualifying marks in both events. Kayla Muyskens won the Shot Put and picked up an NCAA-II automatic qualifying mark of 48-02.75 in the process. The Jennies 4 x 400 Yard Relay Team also finished first. "Meet Results"

The first USTFCCCA national and regional rankings have been released, with the Mules number one in the region and third nationally on the men's side. The Jennies are sixth nationally and third in the region in the women's rankings.

Mules sweep MIAA honors

Central Missouri teammates Darius Walker and Drew Frizzell have been named MIAA Men's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 25-31 as selected by a conference SID panel. Walker and Frizzell are both first-time honorees in 2010.

Lindsay Lettow and Kayla Muyskens of Central Missouri have been named MIAA Women's Track & Field Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Jan. 25-31 as selected by a conference SID panel. Lettow and Muyskens are both honored for the first time this season.


MIAA MEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
Darius Walker
Darius Walker, So., Central Missouri

Walker won the heptathlon at the Doane Multi’s with the No. 1 mark in the nation, 5,104 points. The sophomore from Lee’s Summit, Mo., won both the 55-meter dash (6.65) and 55-meter hurdles (7.95) during the meet, which had 23 competitors.

Drew Frizzell, Jr., Central Missouri

Frizzell won the weight throw at the Missouri Southern Invitational with the No. 2 throw in the nation (67-6 ¾ feet). The junior from Chillicothe, Mo., also placed second in the shot put with a provisional mark of 54-10 ¾ feet.


MIAA WOMEN'S TRACK ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Lindsay Lettow, So., Central Missouri

Lettow won the 60-meter hurdles at the Missouri Southern Invitational with a provisional mark of 8.90. The sophomore from Urbandale, Iowa, also won the 400 meters (58.63) and made the finals of the 60-meter dash but did not run. Lettow was also second in the long jump with a provisional mark of 18-3 feet and tied for second in the high jump at 5-4 ¼ feet.

MIAA WOMEN'S FIELD ATHLETE OF THE WEEK

Kayla Muyskens, Jr., Central Missouri

Muyskens won the shot put at the Missouri Southern Invitational with an automatic-qualifying throw of 47-08.00 feet. The junior from Yale, Iowa, also placed third in the weight throw with a mark of 52-07.50 feet. Muyskens’s throw in the shot put ranks fourth in the nation.

Drew Frizzell (pictured above) won the men's weight throw competition Friday at the Missouri Southern Invitational in Joplin, Missouri. His winning throw of 67' 6.75" also earned him an automatic qualifying mark for the NCAA-II Indoor Championships.

Kayla Muyskens took first place and earned an automatic qualifying mark (47' 8") in the women's shot put

Lindsay Lettow picked up a pair of first place marks, winning the 60 meter hurdles with a provisional qualifying mark of 8.90, and won the 400 meter dash. Lettow also earned a provisional mark of 18-03 in the women's long jump to finish second.

Drew Frizzell, Jenna Schmidt, and Anne Carlson received their national championship rings during halftime ceremonies of the Mules basketball game on Wednesday, January 13th. The trio won individual national championships during the 2009 season.


UCM has six provisional marks at opening event

UCM Multi athletes swept the top three spots in each event, picking up six individual provisional qualifying marks at the Doane College Multi Events in Crete, Nebraska on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 11-12th.

Brent Vogel claimed first place for the Mules in the heptathlon with 4,987 points. He was followed by Shawn Boss (4,948) and Carl McCargo (4,826) in second and third respectively.

Three Jennies qualified in the pentathlon with Lindsay Lettow (3,641) taking first, Ann Carlson (3,594) coming in second and Jenna Schmidt (3,450), posting an automatic qualifying mark in the high jump (5-9.25), and taking third.


Jenna Schmidt is the D-II Indoor Field Scholar Athlete of the Year

Jenna Schmidt is the Division II Indoor Field Scholar Athlete of the Year for 2009. Schmidt, a sophomore from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, maintained a 3.84 cumulative grade point average in Sociology. She was the high jump national champion indoors clearing 5'-9.75" leading the Jennies to a third place finish in the team standings. Schmidt also won the high jump title at the MIAA outdoor championships and finished fourth overall in the triple jump at the conference meet.

In addition to the Scholar Athletes of the Year, the USTFCCCA also announced the NCAA D-II All-Academic Track and Field Team. The Jennies have five student-athletes on the women's squad (Lindsay Lettow, Kayla Muyskens, Brittanie Roldan, Jenna Schmidt, and Angela Selby, while the Mules had four student-athletes named to the men's team (Shawn Boss, Kevin Denny, Jaban Moore, and Brent Vogal).
