Mules claim title, Jennies third
at MIAA Indoor Championships

UCM Indoor Track and Field had mixed results Saturday at the MIAA Indoor Championships in Joplin, Missouri. The Mules recorded five first-place performances, and used depth in key events, to total 120 points and claim their 15th overall MIAA men's championship. The Jennies had only one first-place finisher in the women's event, and finished in third place with 78 points. Missouri Southern earned the women’s title by scoring 118 points to edge second-place Emporia State, who scored 102 points.
Chelsea Luck was the only event winner for the Jennies winning the 60 meter hurdles in 6.88 seconds. The Mules had five different individuals win a conference title this weekend. Dan Raithel defended his crown in the weight throw with a personal best toss of 62-07.25. Jaban Moore won the shot put with a throw of 56-01. Kai Roper took first the 400 meters with a time of 49.09 seconds. Dannon Abney captured the 600 yard run with a time of 1:13.62. Kyle Brown won the 800 meter run with a time of 1:56.27. The UCM 4x440 relay team of Abney, Britt Johnson, Brown and Roper also earned top honors with a time of 3:20.51.
