UCM Qualifies 15 to NCAA_Outdoor

Mules qualify nine, Jennies six to
NCAA-II Outdoor Championships

The Mules and Jennies track and field qualified 15 total individuals to the NCAA Outdoor National Championships in Walnut, California from May 22nd-24th.

The Mules qualified nine individuals including junior Damond Berry and freshman Drew Frizzel, who each qualified in three events.  Berry qualified in the 100 meters, 200 meters and is a part of the 4x100 meter relay squad of Dannon Abney, Eric Moore, and Chris Leverette.  Frizzell will compete in the discus, hammer throw, and shot put.  Junior Jaban Moore earned two national berths and will compete in the shot put and hammer throw.  Senior Dan Raithel qualified in the hammer throw and finished as an All-American a year ago by taking second. Raithel will enter as the second ranked thrower in the event. Sophomore Kai Roper will be competing in the 400 meters. Senior A.J. Roth qualified in the decathlon and will be seeded sixth.

Damond Berry- 100 meters, 10.45 (tie 6th seed), 200 meters, 21.13 (9th seed)

Drew Frizzell- Shot Put, 54-01 (14th seed) – Discus, 170-03 (12th seed), Hammer, 194-0 (8th seed)

Jaban Moore- Shot Put, 55-02.75 (10th  seed), Hammer 188-0 (12th seed)

Dan Raithel- Hammer, 213-11 (2nd seed)

Kai Roper- 400 meters, 47.44 (14th seed)

A.J. Roth – Decathlon, 6820 pts (6th seed)

4x100 RelayDannon Abney, Damond Berry, Eric Moore, Chris Leverette , 40.80 (11th seed)

NCAA-II Men's Qualifiers  

The Jennies qualified six individuals. Junior Anne Carlson, who finished as an All-American last season, will compete in the decathlon as she is seeded third entering competition. Senior’s Haley Morrissey and Samantha Frisbie both qualified in the high jump. Junior Chelsea Luck will compete in the 100 meter hurdles. Freshman Kayla Muyskens qualified in the discus. Junior Brittanie Roldan qualified in the triple jump and will enter as the sixth seed.

Anne Carlson – Heptathlon, 4,860 pts (3rd seed)

Samantha Frisbie – High Jump, 5-07 (16th seed)

Chelsea Luck – 100 meters hurdles, 14.24 (12th seed)

Haley Morrissey – High Jump, 5-07.25 (13th seed)

Kayla Muyskens – Discus, 148-06 (14th seed)

Brittanie Roldan – Triple Jump, 39-09.75 (6th seed)
