Mules defend MIAA Indoor Title, Jennies finish third

The Mules recorded four first-place performances to total 139.33 points and claim their 16th overall MIAA men's championship. UCM edged out Emporia State men, who scored 126 to take second. The Jennies picked up four first-place finishes in the women's event, and finished in third place with 77.5 points. Nebraska-Omaha claimed top honors with 94 points, narrowly beating Missouri Southern who had 92.5 points.
Drew Frizzell claimed a conference title in both the shot put (57-05) and weight throw (65-11) to score 20 points for the Mules. Frizzell broke the MIAA meet record by Dan Raithel (62-07.25) of UCM in 2008 and continues to hold the top mark in the nation at 66-07. Brett Carter scored 18 points for Central Missouri by taking top honors in the 5,000 meters (14:56.28) and taking second in the 3,000 meter run (8:34.85). The UCM 4x440 yard relay of Darius Walker, Anthony Cooper, Britt Johnson, and Kai Roper also won a conference title with a time of 3:22.89.
The Jennies were led by Anne Carlson, who scored 20.50 points. Carlson won the pentathlon (3,744 points), took second in the long jump (18-02.50) and fifth in the triple jump (36-11.50). Kayla Muyskens won the shot put (46-03.50) and took second in the weight throw (53-05) to score 18 points for Central Missouri. Jenna Schmidt claimed top spot in the high jump (5-06.50) and took fourth in the triple jump (37-05.75). Brittanie Roldan won the triple jump (40-01.25) and took sixth in both the 60 hurdles (9.34) and long jump (17-06.75). Roldan’s mark in the triple jump is the best in Division II this season.
