UCM has three National Champions and 14 All-Americans
UCM Track and Field picked up a total of three individual national champions at the NCAA Division II Indoor Championships in Houston, Texas, with one Friday and two on Saturday. Central Missouri had a total of 14 All-Americans, earning honors in all 12 events they had a student-athlete entered in.
As a team, the Jennies took third in the women’s division with 41 points, their highest finish in indoor history. The Mules finished sixth overall in the men’s division with 36 points.
The Mules picked up seven All-American performances. UCM sophomore Drew Frizzell won the weight throw (68-07) on Friday by more than three feet and broke his own school record. Frizzell also took third in the shot (57-05.75), while senior teammate Jaban Moore picked up fourth place (57-04.75). Senior Eric Moore took sixth in the long jump (23-08.75). Freshman Darius Walker took fourth in the heptathlon (5,156 points) and sophomore Alex Lohman brought home fifth (5,085 points). The 4x400 relay team of Walker, Anthony Cooper, Britt Johnson and Kai Roper finished sixth (3:16.81) to earn All-American honors.
The Jennies had five All-American performances. On Saturday, junior Anne Carlson, won the heptathlon (3,830 points), while freshman Lindsay Lettow took fourth (3,730 points). Sophomore Jenna Schmidt claimed the national title in the high jump (5-09.75). The Jennies picked up two second place finishes with senior Brittanie Roldan in the triple jump (39-01.25) and sophomore Kayla Muyskens breaking her own school record in the shot put (47-10).
