Mules and Jennies win D-II Challenge

Lindsay Lettow and Drew Frizzell led the Jennies and Mules to the team titles

The Mules and Jennies outdoor track and field squads both picked up team titles at the Division II Challenge in Emporia on Saturday. The Mules scored 251 points as a team and the Jennies had 160 points to take top honors.

The Mules picked up four provisional marks and one automatic. They were led by Drew Frizzell, who had three first-place finishes and took home “Men’s Field Athlete of the Meet” honors. Frizzell had an automatic qualifying mark in the shot put (55-11) and two provisional’s in the discus (165-07) and hammer throw (190-02). Jaban Moore also earned a provisional mark in the shot put (54-04.75) by finishing second behind Frizzell. Darius Walker picked up a provisional mark in the 400 hurdles (53.32) placing second. The UCM 4x400 relay finished second and earned a provisional with a time of 3:14.26. Shawn Boss claimed top honors in the decathlon with 5,918 points.

The Jennies were led by Lindsay Lettow, who had three first-place finishes, and was named “Women’s Track Athlete of the Meet”. She won the 100 hurdles (14.61), 400 hurdles (1:04.42), high jump (5-05) and also took fourth in the long jump (18-01).  Brittanie Roldan picked up a provisional mark in the triple jump (38-08.75) by taking first. Other Jennies coming in first were Jessica Donovan in the shot put (42-03.25), and Amy Kennison in the pole vault (10-06).
