In High School: The Wichita, Kan. native attended Valley Center High School after an award-winning career. A two-year letterman, she led her team to the state tournament in both seasons while earning all-conference honors as well. A first-team all-league selection as a senior, Peniston also played basketball and softball at VCHS. On the basketball court, she was named all-conference three times, two on the first-team, and was an honorable mention all-state pick twice. In softball, she lettered four seasons and has been named first-team all-conference at third base two times.
