In High School: A two-time all-state performer for head coach Julie Slater at Lansing High School, she led her team to Sub-State titles as a junior and senior… As a junior she helped them to a fourth place finish in the state, and as a senior they were a state tournament participant earning all-tournament team honors both years… Bates earned four letters, all-conference honors in 2007 and 2008, and all-metro honorable mention accolades in her career… She also participated in the Mo-Kan All-Star Game.
