Coach Piontek says: “Rachel has one of the most powerful arms on the team and has had some success on the front row, but because of her excellent ball handling skills, she should start at libero.”
As a Sophomore: Named first-team All-MIAA, along with honorable mention all-region honors at libero... also named MIAA hitter of the week once this season, before making the change to libero... Led the team in digs (5.15 dps), and ranks second in the MIAA... Also ranked third in the MIAA in service aces (.29 sa/s)... Set the team season-high with 38 digs against Rockhurst on Sept. 11... Had 36 matches in double-figure digs on the season (second at UCM in a season), four matches in double figure kills, and four double-doubles in kills-digs... Her 690 digs rank fourth all-time for a single season in school history... Earned MIAAAcademic Honor Roll for her work in the classroom.
As a Freshman: An honorable mention All-MIAA selection, she ranked second on the team in total digs (378) and double-figure dig matches (22)... The true freshman also had 279 kills to sit in fourth on the squad while her teamhigh 152 attack errors dropped her hitting percentage down to .157... Set a career high with 21 kills against Northwest Missouri on October 27... Tallied nine matches with double-figure kills and was second on the team with six double-doubles... Also piled up 51 service aces to rank fourth in the MIAA.
In High School: A first-team all-state and all-region pick for head coach Mike Tyree, Fister led St. Francis Borgia High School to four district titles… as a sophomore, she helped the squad to a state title while taking a runner-up finish as a junior in 2005… She lettered all four years and as a sophomore was listed by
Prep Volleyball as a Fab 50 player… in 2006 she was named to the USAV National All-Tournament Team.
Personal: Nursing major with a 3.06 GPA… Born January 25, 1989… Daughter of Neal and Fran Fister.
