Coach Piontek says: “Sarah worked very hard this past spring on her footwork and speed. That should put her in the competition for a middle blocking position.”

As a Sophomore: Played in 34 sets and 21 matches on the year at the middle blocker position in a reserve role... Had a season-high six kills and four blocks against Truman State on November 5... Also had career-highs of four assists and eight points against the Bulldogs... Earned MIAAAcademic Honor Roll for her work in the classroom.

As a Redshirt Freshman: Played in 19 games and 13 matches as a redshirt freshman... Had five kills in seven attacks against Emporia State (Sept. 4) while matching that kill total against Pittsburg State on November 6... Also had 5.5 points against C.W. Post with 4 kills, a block solo, and a block assist.

In High School: Leonard earned varsity letters all four years for head coach Mana Mattiace, taking the conference championship every season. She was first-team Metro Conference from 2003-2005, second team All-CIML Conference in 2003 and 2004, and first team All-CIML in 2005, not to mention special
mention all-state in 2004. Leonard was on the State Girls Coaches Association all-district team in 2004 and 2005 as well. She also lettered in basketball and softball.

Personal: Chemistry/Biology major with a 3.70 grade-point average… Born June 17, 1988… Daughter of Dan and Dianne Leonard.
