Mules have five named D-II All-Academic

Travis Barbarick and Cory Bloodgood (pictured above) have been named First Team D-II All-Academic by the NCAA D-II Wrestling Coaches Association. Barbarick and Bloodgood are two of the five Mules wrestlers receiving All-Academic recognition. Denis Ryzhov was a second-team selection, while Matthew Bailes and Jesse Whitson received honorable mention.
As a team, the Mules were ranked sixth in D-II for a team GPA of 3.237
Mules place trio at NCAA-II Championships
The Mules had three wrestlers place at the national championship event on Saturday. William Forrest (149) and Denis Ryzhov (157) both finished seventh, while Cory Bloodgood (141) placed eighth. The Mules had a total six wrestlers compete in the event, with three eliminated on Friday...UCM Info » /

Denis Ryzhov (157) was one of three Mules wrestlers to earn All-American at the D-II Championships. Ryzhov picked up a pin just :21 seconds in his 2nd round consolation match.
The wrestling championship was being held as part of the Division-II National Championships Fesitval.
The six UCM wrestlers at the national meet qualified out of the NCAA-II Super 2 Regional held Sunday, March 1st, in Kirksville, Missouri. Grant Baker led the UCM qualifiers with a second place finish at 133. Also advancing to the national event: Cory Bloodgood - 3rd (141); William Forrest - 3rd (149); Denis Ryzhov - 4th (157); Travis Barbarick - 3rd (184); and Cody Beck - 4th (285).

The Mules jump to 12th in the latest
NCAA-II Poll, and also have three individuals nationally ranked...Grant Baker 6th at 133, Travis Barbarick 7th at 184, and Cody Beck 6th at heavyweight.
