Mules qualify eight wrestlers to National Tournament

The Central Missouri Mules finished in third place at the Midwest Regional in Indianapolis, Ind. and qualified eight wrestlers for the NCAA National Tournament. The eight qualifiers were the most of any team in the tournament and the most for UCM since the Mules qualified nine in 2001. The top four place winners in each weight class earns a trip to the national tournament.
UCM had six third place finishers, one fourth place finisher and two fifth place finishers. Cory Bloodgood wrestled back from his fifth place finish for true fourth to earn a trip to the National finale. The other Mules qualifiers were Caleb Hulse (3rd at 125), Vince Bertucci (3rd at 157), Jesse Sheets (4th at 165), Travis Barbarick (3rd at 174), Jeremy Hudson (3rd at 184), Kevin Domian (3rd at 197) and Cody Beck (3rd at 285). This is the second trip to nationals for Sheets and Hudson and the first trip for the other six Mules.
The Mules finished third with 97.5 points. Central Oklahoma won the regional with 116 points followed by Ashland with 101.
The NCAA-II Championships are set for March 14-15 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Upper Iowa University will be the host school.
