Mules place 13 at Denker Open
Cody Beck and Chase Chavers both placed second at the Denker Open
The Central Missouri Mules had 13 wrestlers place in the top six at their respective weight classes at the annual Roger Denker Open this past Saturday. The top finishers for UCM were freshman Chase Chavers at 165 pounds and sophomore Cody Beck at heavyweight, both wrestlers had runner-up finishes.
Chavers fell to Marcus Armato of Oklahoma 6-4 in the 165-pound final, while Beck was defeated 4-1 by Joe Bach, also of Oklahoma.
Other Mules placewinners were Byron Clark (sixth at 125 pounds), Grant Baker (fifth at 133), Cory Bloodgood and Cody Gillenwater, third and sixth at 141, respectively. Three Mules placed in the top six at 149, Will Forrest defeated Jesse Whitson in the third place match and Brandon Russow finished in sixth. Matt Bailes finished fourth at 165, Conor Fitzgerald was fourth at 174 along with Phil Witt in sixth place and Brandon Hayes finished fourth at heavyweight for UCM.
