Mules finish third, Jennies finish fourth
at MIAA Cross Country Championships
The Mules and Jennies cross country teams took part in the MIAA Championships with the men finishing third and the women finished fourth this past Saturday in Bolivar, Mo.
For the Mules, they had two runners finish in the top five led by junior Adam Akers with a second place time of 24:48.55 over the 8K and Joe Mundt came in fourth finishing the course in 24:56.65. As a team, UCM finished two points behind Southwest Baptist with 72. Missouri Southern State University won the meet with 47 points and SBU was second with 70.
The Mules had two other runners finish in the top 20 with Dennis Hill coming in 16th with a time of 25:32.13 and David Fuchs was 20th at 25:49.14. Anthony Schulz rounded out the scoring for UCM coming in 30th at 26:05.95, Chris Colesworthy (33rd in 26:12.89) and A.J. Stevens (63rd in 27:45.08) also ran for the Mules.
The women finished with 99 points behind champion Missouri Southern with 67 points, Southwest Baptist had 76 points and Pittsburg State was third with 82 points. The Jennies were led by Gina Kennison, who came in fifth place with a time of 22:00.82. Danielle Moul-Nagel was 11th in 22:25.86, Dani Wagaman was 22nd in 22:54.85, while Sandy Davidson and Alison Kelley were 26th and 35th, respectively in 23:04.59 and 23:28.56. Jillian Doddema (37th in 23:38.67) and Laura Adams (44th in 23:50.00) also ran for the Jennies.
