Logan Skelton, Guest Piano Recital

Dr. Logan Skelton is a much sought after pianist, teacher and composer whose work has received international critical acclaim. He has concertized widely in the United States, Europe and Asia and has been featured on many public radio and television stations including NPR's "Audiophile Audition," "Performance Today," "All Things Considered," and "Morning Edition," as well as on radio in China and national television in Romania. To date he has recorded ten discs of solo and chamber repertoire for Centaur, Albany, Crystal, and Naxos Records, the latter on which his two piano partner was composer/pianist William Bolcom. He is a frequent guest pianist at prestigious music festivals such as Gina Bachauer, Eastman, Tunghai, MTNA National Convention, Chautauqua Institution, American Romanian, Eastern, New Orleans, Poland International, Indiana University, Hilton Head Island, and the Prague International Piano Masterclasses. He is a frequent juror for international piano competitions. Dr. Skelton received degrees from Manhattan School of Music, Eastman School of Music and Loyola University.
The program will feature works by Hungarian composer Bela Bartok, as well as a variation set composed by Dr. Skelton.
In addition to the recital, Dr. Skelton will present a lecture on "Reading the Score: Understanding Meaning Behind Notation" on Monday, November 11 at 1:00PM and conduct a masterclass on Tuesday, October 15 from 2PM-4PM in Hart Recital Hall, featuring UCM students from the departments of music and theater.
