Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)

UCM and the Office of Career Services adhere to applicable federal and state EEO laws, regulations, standards and guidelines, and offer employment information without regard to race, color, religion, gender, national origin, sexual orientation, disability, citizenship, or identity as a military veteran unless legally required. Furthermore, in good faith, the Office of Career Services works only with those employers who subscribe to EEO guidelines. With regard to professional conduct of job seekers, employers and career centers throughout the recruiting process, the Office of Career Services abides by the principles set forth by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE).

Third Party Recruiter Policy

In accordance with the NACE principles, the practice of the Office of Career Services is to educate students regarding a wide variety of job search strategies, including third party employment services. Individuals can then determine whether utilizing these services will be of benefit to them. The Office of Career Services does not investigate, endorse, rank or recommend any third party employment services.

Conditions of Participation for Organizations

By participating in these services, organizations agree that they will adhere to applicable federal and state EEO laws, regulations, standards, and guidelines as well as the appropriate principles set forth by NACE in all recruiting activities, that no fee will be charged to any candidate at any time, and organizations will not disclose resumes or other applicant information under any circumstances to other entities without the applicant’s prior written consent. The Office of Career Services reserves the right to discontinue services to employers and organizations who have violated EEO and NACE guidelines.

Privacy Policy

The University of Central Missouri’s Office of Career Services web-based software program known as "Central Career Network (CCN)" is part of the NACElink Network web site, owned and operated by the National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE). Both UCM’s Office of Career Services and NACE are committed to maintaining the privacy of personal information for users of CCN.  Since we do collect certain types of information about our users, we will describe in this privacy statement, the terms and conditions surrounding the capture and use of that information including what we collect, how we use it, and how users can make changes.

Employers use NACElink Network to post employment opportunities and search the central resume database directly on NACElink Network.com, through the UCM’s Office of Career Services web site; DirectEmployers Association's web site; or through NACE's web site, NACEWeb, where there is a direct link to NACElink Network. UCM is a NACElink Network Custom School and uses NACElink Network to provide a web-based system for job posting, resume data base, registration, and interview scheduling for its job seekers and for the employers who recruit on campus.

Students/alumni use NACElink through their college/university career centers to post resumes and review job opportunities.

NACE's commitment to all users—schools, employers, and students/alumni—is that NACE will maintain the confidentiality of all information collected on NACElink Network and NACE will not sell, transmit, or disclose in any fashion this information to any other organization.

NACElink Network is the host server, storing and maintaining the data. NACE also has a partner, DirectEmployers Association, which will provide backup hosting services to NACE's servers. NACE and DirectEmployers Association only have access to the data in aggregate form.

Candidate Information Collected

CCN/NACElink collects the following user information for registered candidates:

  • Contact information, including title (Ms., Mrs., Mr.), name, address, city, state, ZIP code, country, phone number, personal Web site URL, e-mail address, and e-mail type (text or HTML).
  • Educational information including degree(s) from University of Central Missouri, major(s), graduation month and year, cumulative GPA, major GPA, degree(s) from other institution(s), future educational plans, name of future university, and languages.
  • Employment preferences including date available for work, acceptable travel, willingness to relocate, job-search status, preferred work type, preferred job function and industry, work experience, and preferred geographic locations and country.

The University of Central Missouri provides a link from the Career Center Web site to NACElink. Students and alumni access NACElink directly from this link and create a personal password at the time of registration. Students and alumni input their data directly into the NACElink system. Candidates may change or correct personal information at any time. NACE and DirectEmployers have access to personal information only for the purpose of providing customer service, trouble shooting, and technical services.

How UCM’s Office of Career Services Uses Personally Identifiable Information Collected?

Through CCN/NACElink, students and alumni can view jobs, post résumés, apply for jobs, and schedule on-campus interviews. The information in a candidate's profile is used by the Career Center for job-search advising, promoting programs and services, and notifying candidates of employment opportunities. Personally identifiable information is not released to third parties.

UCM may conduct searches on résumés and candidate profiles to notify candidates of educational or employment opportunities through e-mail communications. By entering data into the CCN/NACElink system, students and alumni may have data included in aggregate reports used for evaluation of employment activities, educational programs, reports developed for institutional studies, and salary surveys.

Neither NACElink nor DirectEmployers can use or sell individual candidate data. Unlike commercial vendors, NACElink staff cannot look at individual data—only staff of the UCM’s Office of Career Services can retrieve individual candidate data.

Students and alumni should contact Career Services if they have any concerns about the use of their information or if they want to view, correct or change their information.

Especially for Student/Alumni Jobseekers
NACE receives and collects personally identifiable information about you, a student/alumni user, (name, contact information, demographic information, academic history, G.P.A, employment history, etc.) from you via NACElink Network after you subscribe for services and when you upload resumes, cover letters, and other documents which contain personal information.

UCM’s Office of Career Services will access some of your personal information to send e-mail to you using communication tools on the Site, to publish resumes in the school's resume book(s), and to send resumes to employers on behalf of student/alumni.

You will participate in the central resume database on NACElink Network. This means that your personal profile information and resume will be searchable by and accessible to the employers that have access to that data base but who may not recruit on the UCM campus.

Employers that use NACElink Network directly through NACElink Network or through UCM’s Office of Career Services will have access to your resume and the personal information contained therein for recruiting, interviewing, and hiring purposes. Employers will also have access to limited information from your profile only if your profile matches an employer's search criteria. NACE and UCM’s Office of Career Services are not responsible for what they do with personal information about you that is available or accessible to them on this Site. While NACE and UCM’s Office of Career Services endeavor to restrict access to this data base to eligible employers, NACE cannot guarantee that other parties will not, without our consent, gain access to the data base.

Especially for Employers
UCM’s Office of Career Services and NACE will collect information from you, an employer, utilizing the Site. This information includes: contact information ( phone number or e-mail address); unique identifiers (NACE membership or account numbers, or password to NACElink Network); financial information (credit card number); and demographic information ( location, type of organization, size of organization). The financial information collected will be used only to bill your organization for fees associated with multi-school listings or other NACElink Network services. NACE has a contract with VeriSign to verify credit card numbers. Your credit card information will be deleted as soon as the transaction is completed and will not be stored on NACE's or DirectEmployers' servers. You will need to re-enter that information each time there is a new financial transaction.

NACE will receive and collect from employers:  job postings (including job descriptions, employment qualifiers, and salary information) and interview schedules (posted either directly through NACElink Network, through the DirectEmployers Association web site, or through the UCM’s Office of Career Services).
