A common course syllabus template has been developed for use in the UCM College of Education and all Professional Education classes (1) to assure that all courses contain the information necessary for accreditation purposes, (2) to provide students with a common syllabus format that will reinforce their understanding of course objectives, outcomes, and procedures, and (3) to assist faculty teaching online courses with preparation of syllabi consistent with the Quality Matters (QM) standards.

University Definition of a Credit Hour
A credithour is an amount of work represented in intended learning outcomes and verified by evidence ofstudent achievement that is an institutionally-established equivalency that reasonably approximatesnot less than: (1) one hour of classroom or direct faculty instruction and a minimum of two hours ofout-of-class student work each week for approximately fifteen weeks for one semester hour ofcredit or the equivalent amount of work over a different amount of time; or (2) at least an equivalent amount of work as required in (1) above of this definition for other activities as established by an institution, including laboratory work, internships, practica, studio work, and other academic work leading toward the award of credit hours.
