CentralNet promotes and manages the effective use of technology within the university by developing collaborative relationships within the university and between the university and its constituents.
CentralNet is a network of networks, both organizational and technical, which connects schools, post secondary institutions, government, health organizations, businesses and communities. The network permits a more effective sharing of resources needed for education, training, economic development, and health care.
CentralNet provides front-end system administration for:
- The Blackboard Course Management System
- Adobe Presenter
- Adobe Acrobat Connect Professional
- The Helix Streaming Server platform
- iTunes U @ UCM
- Apple OSX Podcasting / Blog server
- Atomic Learning
Training and support for all of the above is provided by CentralNet. Additionally, training sessions on Respondus, SynchronEyes, Smart Tech software, and video-teleconferencing / I-TV are conducted. Over 150 hours of training are offered each semester.
CentralNet provides oversight for all the video teleconferencing facilities on campus as well as manages the 100 port Polycom Multi-Conferencing Unit, the Polycom RSS 2000 Streaming player/recorder and associated management software.
CentralNet helps integrate all distance learning services provided by UCM's network capabilities with services provided by other organizations.
