iTunes U is a service provided by Apple, Inc. that enables our university to easily manage and deliver a broad range of audio, video and PDF content to students, faculty, staff, alumni and the public. iTunes U @ UCM is now accessible from Apples iTunes Store.
Helix Streaming Server platform
UCM houses its own streaming server that supports Real Media, Windows Media and Quicktime formats. Streamed audio and video are used as instructional material, records of special project reports and promotional endeavors.
Atomic Learning provides a large, online library of short, easy-to-understand tutorials. AL's "just-n-time" approach to software training focuses on answering the common questions encountered when learning and using software. Our campus-wide license allows students, faculty, administrators and staff FREE access to all of Atomic Learning resources 24 hours per day, 7 days a week all year 'round.
Since 1993, UCM has provided video teleconferencing services for instruction and "ad-hoc" uses. Ad-hocs would include committee meetings, interviews, doctoral dissertations, organizational events, web conferences, etc. The university has three video teleconferencing classrooms and eight conference rooms on our main campus with one video teleconferencing classroom and two conference room at our Central Summit Center location in Lee's Summit. In addition, UCM is a member of the Western Missouri Educational Technology Consortium (WeMET), a K-12 I-TV consortium with nine local school districts with VTC capabilities.
