School Counselor Transition Tuition Reimbursement Program
At this time the School Counselor Transition Tuition Reimbursement Program has been suspended indefinitely due to lack of funding from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.
Important Notice: Participants must submit the counselor transition tuition reimbursement application and a letter of support from their employing school district by June 1 of each calendar year to be eligible for the reimbursement program.
Note: Only undergraduate hour and graduate hour fees for approved coursework are eligible for tuition reimbursement. Mandatory fees, textbooks, and any other billed fess are not eligible for tuition reimbursement.
Guidelines for Counselor Transition Tuition Reimbursement Program
Current Counselor Candidate
- Must obtain a "B" or better in a class to be eligible for reimbursement.
- A counselor must annually complete an application form to be considered for reimbursement.
- A counselor's District of Employment must annually submit a letter confirming employment as a counselor, or will be employed as a counselor within one year, that contains a recommendation from either the superintendent or building principal where the candidate will become a counselor, and how the district will support the counselor to reach his/her goal. Support must include release time, when necessary, travel and class time. - Only undergraduate hour and graduate hour fees for approved coursework are eligible for tuition reimbursement. Mandatory fees, student activity fees, and any other fees billed are not eligible for tuition reimbursement.
- Tuition reimbursement is dependent on annual availability of state funds. There is no guarantee of tuition reimbursement.
Elementary Provisional Certification
Only these classes will be reimbursed:
Coun 5110 Orientation to the Counseling Profession
Coun 5120 Foundations of Professional Counseling
Coun 5610 Introduction to Group Work
Coun 5510 Counseling Theories
Coun 5710 Introduction to Assessment
Coun 5720 Analysis and Diagnosis of the Individual
Coun 5900 Practicum in Counseling
Secondary Provisional Certification
Only these classes will be reimbursed:
Coun 5110 Orientation to the Counseling Profession
Coun 5120 Foundations of Professional Counseling
Coun 5610 Introduction to Group Work
Coun 5510 Counseling Theories
Coun 5710 Introduction to Assessment
Coun 5410 Career Development and Counseling
Coun 5900 Practicum in Counseling
Eligible for Tuition:
Admission to the Master Counseling Program.
All classes taken through UCM.
Must maintain a grade point average of 3.0(B) in all coursework
Reimbursement will not be applied to coursework previously completed.
Completing requirements for elementary or secondary provisional certification classes and will be employed as a counselor in one year.
