College Faculty/Staff Awards

Deadline for the 2011-2012 academic year is March 1.

Each academic year, the College of Health, Science, and Technology will recognize individual performance in the following categories:

The Excellence in Teaching, Scholarship/Creative Activity, Service and Performance Awards recognize accomplishments during the past academic year ending in the spring of the year the award is recognized. The Distinguished Service Award may extend over a period of time.

If appropriate, faculty may be nominated for one or all categories. If an individual is nominated for more than one category, a separate nomination letter and supporting document(s) must accompany each category nomination. 

Past recipients are not eligible for nomination for three years.

Procedures for Submitting Nominations

A.        All full time faculty members and staff may be nominated for a designated award.  Each department may select a department faculty/staff/distinguished member to be nominated from nominations it receives from within or outside the department. Self nominations are not acceptable.

B.         The department chair will inform the nominee that he/she has been nominated. If the nominee accepts the nomination, he/she may then compile a packet of materials indicating the extent and significance of her/his accomplishments. The packet will include no more than three pages of relevant supporting materials.

C.         The Department Chair or designee(s) will prepare a nomination letter highlighting the outstanding accomplishments that is no more than two pages

D.        The Department Chair will forward the nomination letter and supporting materials to the Dean’s office by March 1.                    

E.         The College Awards Committee will review all nominations based on the materials received and make recommendations to the Dean no later than March 15.        

F.         Each faculty/staff member selected will receive a monetary award of $1000 to be used for professional development.  In addition, an engraved plaque will be awarded during the department’s award recognition.  Distinguished Service Honoree(s) will receive an engraved plaque and be recognized at the appropriate department’s award recognition.
