Hansen-Horn

Tricia Hansen-Horn, Program Coordinator
Tricia Hansen-Horn joined UCM's Department of Communication and Sociology in 1999, and under her leadership, the public relations program has grown in student numbers and in curriculum development driven by the national Commission on Public Relations Education. She is the editor of a one-of-a-kind public relations theory text and co-author of two in-process strategic planning for public relations books.

Hansen-Horn earned her doctoral degree in Communication-Public Affairs and Issues Management from Purdue University, master's degree in Communication from the University of Central Missouri and bachelor's degrees in Organizational Communication and Comprehensive Speech from the University of Nebraska-Kearney.
Heapes

Tom Heapes, Associate Professor
Tom Heapes began his career as a broadcast journalist and moved into corporate public relations positions in the pharmaceutical and energy sectors. In his 30-year career, he has provided strategic counsel, crisis communications advice and media relations skills to Fortune 500 CEOs as well as entrepreneurs. 

Heapes developed and teaches UCM's popular Electronic and Social Media for PR class, as well as classes focused on media relations and public relations writing. He is active in the Public Relations Society of America and is a past president of the Greater Kansas City PRSA Chapter, and is accredited through the Public Relations Society of America.

Heapes earned his master's degree in Speech and his bachelor's degree in Journalism the University of Missouri-Columbia.

Horn

Adam Horn, Assistant Professor
Adam Horn keeps his teaching fresh by providing consulting services for NASCAR and other professional athletic organizations. He has extensive professional experience with media relations, and professional writing and editing for organizations and the celebrities who are contracted with those organizations. He is also a co-author of two in-process strategic planning for public relations books.

Horn earned his doctoral degree in Strategic Communication from the University of Missouri-Columbia, master's degree in Sport Administration from Wichita State University and bachelor's degree in Communication from Purdue University.

Mullins

Jenn Mullins, Instructor
Jenn Mullins offers students expertise in writing and design. She came to UCM from Anchorage, Alaska, where she worked as the communication coordinator at the University of Alaska. Her position included working with the media, designing and printing publications, serving as webmaster of the college's website and planning events for the college's 14 divisions. She spent years prior to that teaching as an adjunct for the University at Nebraska-Omaha.

Mullins earned her master's degree in Communication with a graduate certificate in Technical Communication, and bachelor's degree in Communication and Public Relations from the University of Nebraska at Omaha.
