As the campus prepares for the visit of Jonathan Gotschall, author of Storytelling Animal, the book selected as the 2013 One Campus,One Book, we are excited to announce the call for nominations for UCM's 2014 One Campus, One Book.
Students, staff, and faculty are invited to nominate books for the 2014 One Campus One Book. Individuals can learn more about One Campus, One Book and nominate a book for consideration at http://www.ucmo.edu/adp/events/one.cfm Nominations will be reviewed by a committee, and the selection will be announced in early January. Criteria for selection prioritizes texts that (1) are accessible to first-year students, (2) are applicable to a first-year Composition/Rhetoric curriculum, (3) are affordable and of reasonable length, (4) demonstrate cross-disciplinary value, and (5) address a contemporary social issue. Furthermore, the author must be alive and available to speak at UCM campus.
The nomination forms require the following information about the book: title, author, publisher, year, and a 1-2 paragraph rationale for its adoption as a common reader text (for faculty, write an explanation of how you would use it in your course curricula, in place of a rationale). The deadline for all nominations is October 25th.
