Pleiades Visiting Writers Series presents GARY JACKSON

Gary Jackson, poet and comic book aficionado, is the author of Missing You, Metropolis, a poetry collection that explores themes of race, boyhood, grief, and sex through the eyes of superheroes and the readers who love them. Poems like “Upon Seeing Spider-Man on My Way to Work,â€쳌 “Nightcrawler Buys a Woman a Drink,â€쳌 and “Iron Man’s Intervention, Starring the Avengers,â€쳌 are playful and disarming, yet challenge us to consider the variety of masks we wear and the costumes others are pressured to put on.

After the reading by poet Gary Jackson at 2pm, head over to Gallery 115 in the Art Center building at 4pm for the opening of "My Dream Cain," the solo exhibit by Sarah Nguyen:
