President Ambrose Responds to Gov. Nixon's Funding Decision

The University of Central Missouri community appreciates Gov. Jay Nixon's continued support for the state's public colleges and universities, and we're particularly grateful for his decision to release 1 percent of the appropriations that were previously restricted from the Fiscal Year 2013 budget. After years of flat or decreased funding for Missouri colleges and universities, this is certainly a positive step for the governor to help institutions to continue to provide quality education for students.

The governor's decision will result in $8.4 million for higher education statewide, including $526,110 for UCM. These funds will be used to further important UCM initiatives including increased financial aid for students and Innovation Campus advancements. This positive initiative will have an immediate impact on this campus, and is coupled with the governor's recent announcement to increase support for UCM in the FY14 budget as the result of performance funding.
