Crooker Named UCM Institutional Research Director

Considering activity at the state level and visioning priorities for the coming months, Deborah Curtis, provost and chief academic officer, has announced the appointment of Skip Crooker, associate professor of economics and associate dean of the Harmon College of Business and Professional Studies, to the position of director of institutional research. His appointment is effective immediately, and follows an internal search conducted in December.

In announcing Crooker's appointment, Curtis said it has become evident that UCM will best be served by focusing carefully on meaningful analysis of the institution's work. "We begin 2013 with a sense of purpose and commitment to gathering the very best data we can and using those data to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our work," she noted in a memo the Strategic Leadership Team. "A key piece in this process is seeking able leadership in this area."

"As we continue the process of studying the outcomes of our work and engaging in thoughtful planning, we look forward to working with Dr. Crooker in this new role," Curtis added. "Providing students with opportunities to experience engaged learning, study future-focused academics, participate in a culture of service and acquire a worldly perspective are our goals for every UCM student. I am confident that Dr. Crooker's leadership skills and extensive expertise will help us make progress toward these worthy goals articulated in our campus strategic positioning platform."

Crooker joined UCM in 2002 as an assistant professor of economics. He has served in his current position since 2010.
