Orcutt Assumes Interim Post at UCM Summit Center
Effective Tuesday, Sept. 2, Vicki Orcutt becomes interim director of the UCM Summit Center until the job is filled on a permanent basis. Deborah Curtis, provost and chief learning officer, made the announcement today.
Orcutt's appointment temporarily fills a position that has been held by Carolyn McKnight, who has served as director of the UCM Summit Center since its opening. McKnight is leaving her post to become director of Community Partnerships and Business Development at the KU-Edwards campus.
A 29-year veteran with two decades of military office administrative experience, Orcutt has served since 2013 as site coordinator for UCM at Whiteman Air Force Base. She began working for the university in 2007 as an office professional for the chair of the Department of Aviation, followed by service as administrative assistant to the dean of the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
She brings to her post experience in a support position and as a senior leader. Before coming to UCM, Orcutt climbed the ranks to become a chief master sergeant in the United States Air Force. Her Air Force career includes at least five years of experience as a command chief master sergeant and 12 years as an information management specialist-superintendent.
Orcutt is currently seeking a Doctor of Education degree from the University of Missouri. She earned a bachelor's degree in occupational education with a major in business management from Wayland Baptist University, Plainview, Texas, and a master's degree in human resource management from Webster University, St. Louis.
