Energy Savings for the Holiday Break
As you depart for the Holiday Break, there are a few simple steps you can take to be energy conscious and reduce UCM's "idle state" power consumption for electronics...
1. If you do not connect remotely to your desktop machine from off-campus via VPN/RDP, power off your computer and monitor.
2. Take a look at the surge protectors/power strips in your office. What is connected to them? Can you switch the power strips off to save electricity?
3. Make sure your printers and/or multifunction copiers are shut down for the break.
4. Make sure you aren't leaving cell phone, iPad, or other chargers plugged into the wall over the break. Remember to take those chargers home with you, if you don't have a duplicate charger already at home.
If you have any questions about your computers, printers, or other electronic devices, please contact the Technology Support Center. Happy Holidays!
