Elizabeth Ritter art, benefit auction
Central Missouri sculptor Elizabeth Ritter has donated two original works to benefit public radio station 90.9 The Bridge. The pieces are being offered through an on-line auction now through the end of October.
The gallant, hand crafted raku horse sculpture, "Caballo del Fuego" would make an excellent focal piece for a room. The piece is 33" tall, 38" long, and 12' wide and consists of rust and earthen tones that would compliment a comfort setting.
The second offering is for two mule head bottle stoppers, modeled after the mule head busts Ritter offered on behalf of the station in 2010. The pair would make an excellent mantelpiece display.
The UCM community likely knows of Ritter through her bronze sculpture "Today's Quest, Tomorrow's Destiny" which faces Holden Street, just east of Vernon Kennedy Stadium.
Both of Ritter's offerings can be seen on display at Powell Gardens through the end of the month. The auction web site is http://www.ucmo.edu/auction/?print=yes& and it contains photos of the works.
