Memorial Service for Alice Gower Dec. 8 in Alumni Chapel
The campus community is invited to a memorial service honoring Alice Marie (Beck) Gower, UCM director emeritus of specialized services, at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 8 in the Alumni Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends from 10 to 10:30.
Gower, a 1943 alumnus, served as a UCM administrator for three decades. She started as a librarian at the residence center in Independence, also teaching psychology and children's literature. She eventually moved to the main campus in Warrensburg, where she served as dean of women. She retired in 1992 as director emeritus of specialized services. She passed away Thursday, Nov. 22, 2012.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Alice M. Gower Re-entry Student Award Endowment, a UCM Foundation fund that benefits nontraditional students. Contributions can be made online at ucmo.edu/giveonline or sent to the UCM Foundation in Smiser Alumni Center. Be sure to designate your gift toward the Gower endowment.
